United State's Funding Terrorism

Saudi Arabia is considered to be one of the United State's closest allies. Recently, a US-Saudi Arabia deal was sealed, worth $350 Billion dollars over ten years. However, Saudi Arabia's frequent violations of human rights, and ties to terrorism make it evident that these close relations must cease.

Waleed Abu al-Khair is serving a 15 year prison sentence, after being found guilty by Saudi Arabia's terrorism court for his criticism in media interviews and social media of Saudi Arabia's human right's violations. This in an inexcusable violation of his human right to free speech and expression and should not be tolerated. Saudi Arabia also carried out over 150 executions in 2015, many of whom were executed for blasphemy or drug offenses. In 2017, two transgender women were tortured until they died after being arrested for "cross-dressing and having same-sex relations."

In August of this year, Saudi Arabia bombed a Doctor's Without Border hospital, killing 19 people,  as well as a school killing 10 children and a bridge which carried food supplies to help relieve a famine in Yemen. Worse yet, the war in Yeman which was initiated by Saudi Arabia has killed at least 10,000 civilians and displaced at least three million. Saudi Arabia's connection to terrorism does not stop there, they also largely contributed to 9/11 by providing passports to at fifteen of the nineteen hijackers, worse still Saudi Arabia financially supported two of the hijackers. Saudi Arabia is a rogue terrorist state, which we must sever ties with immediately.

It is evident that Saudi Arabia has no regard for human rights nor international law. As such, any ties to Saudi Arabia are unacceptable, and undermine the narrative that the United State's cares about human right's and altruism. It is vital that we apply pressure on our representatives to cut ties with Saudi Arabia. You can find your representatives in congress through this page.
